Mushroom Matcha Tea: How To Make A Mushroom Matcha Tea

There are so many reasons people are seeking out the benefits of medicinal mushrooms. In fact, we've written about the benefits of functional mushrooms and mushroom matcha quite a few times before.

Making a mushroom matcha tea is one way to get the benefits of medicinal mushrooms, with the awesome benefits of flavor of matcha tea. We combine these in our adaptogenic mushroom matcha, Wonder Matcha. So you can always use that for a really high quality mushroom matcha, but you can also make this on your own by combining ingredients to your liking.

What is matcha?

If you're not super familiar with matcha, it is a finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves, known for its vibrant green color and rich flavor and health benefits.

Matcha comes in different grades, from lower quality latte and food grades which are meant more for use in foods and latte, to very high quality ceremonial grade matcha. 

Ceremonial grade matcha...higher in nutrients, less bitter, and higher in L-theanine for better focus and longer lasting energy.

What are medicinal mushrooms?

Medicinal mushrooms, also known as functional mushrooms are mushrooms with benefits beyond their nutritional value. 

For example, benefits can be anything from improving your focus, to reducing stress, and improving immunity. 

Many of these mushrooms have been used for 100's to 1000's of years in traditional medicine.

Here are some common medicinal mushrooms:

  • Lion's mane mushroom: Known as a nootropic, lion's mane mushroom helps improve cognitive function, focus, and memory. Also known for it's immune boosting properties. 
  • Reishi mushroom: Known for potential stress reduction and immune system modulation.
  • Cordyceps: Linked to increased energy and endurance.
  • Chaga: Often associated with immune system support and antioxidants.
  • Tremella: Known to be anti-inflammatory and to help protect against oxidative stress. It's well known for its benefits for your skin and collagen production.

Ok, let's get to it! Here's a simple and delicious Mushroom Matcha Tea recipe for you.

Mushroom Matcha Tea

You can make this using Wonder Matcha, or blending your own selection of mushroom extract powders. 

Just like the Wonder Latte, but using water instead of milk. You can always top this with milk at the end for a little creamy addition. Have this as a coffee replacement, or instead of your second brew. 

🍄 Start with 2-3 oz of room-temperature water in a glass

🍄 Optionally, add 1-2 tsp of honey, maple syrup, or other sweetener of choice

🍄 Add 1-2 tsp of Wonder Matcha (or other matcha), and blend/whisk together until well mixed

🍄 If not using Wonder Matcha, use your mushroom selection of choice. The potency of the mushroom powders you're using will determine exactly how much to use, you can use the recommended serving size on your supplement packaging.

 🍄 Fill the mug or glass with water (hot or iced) and top with the matcha mixture

🍄 Optionally top off with milk for creaminess (Recommended!)

🍄 Enjoy the unique combination of Matcha and mushroom goodness!
