Holiday Season Matcha Drink Recipes

When the Fall and Winter come knocking everyone clamors into coffee shops for seasonal beverages. We absolutely love a cozy coffee drink, but obviously we believe matcha has a place to shine here too. 

Matcha can honestly be used in place of coffee or espresso in so many holiday drink recipes, but we found a few original recipes from across the internet to get you inspired. 

You can use any matcha, but of course we recommend Wonder Matcha

Peppermint Matcha White Hot Chocolate

This incredible recipe from Feeding Your Beauty is a luscious blend of creamy cocoa butter, earthy matcha green tea, and a hint of refreshing peppermint. This delightful hot beverage offers a perfect balance of sweetness and minty freshness, creating a cozy and festive treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
  • 2 cups dairy-free milk, any will work
  • 1-ounce cocoa butter, chopped (approximately 1/4 cup)
  • 1-2 tbsp maple syrup or more to taste
  • 2 tsp of Wonder Matcha or other ceremonial grade matcha
  • 1/8 – 1/4 tsp peppermint extract or more to taste
  • 2 tbsp coconut cream, optional for added richness
  • whipped coconut cream* and crushed candy canes for topping (optional)
Instructions
  1. In a double boiler, melt the cocoa butter. Heat the milk and optional 2 tbsp coconut cream in a separate pot. Add hot milk, matcha, maple syrup, peppermint, and melted cocoa butter to the blender and blend CAREFULLY, holding the lid with a folded towel.
  2. Pour into two mugs and top with whipped coconut cream and crushed candy canes.
For the whipped coconut cream: refrigerate a can of full-fat coconut milk. Scoop the cream off the can's top and whip in a small bowl with a fork. Add a little maple syrup to taste. You can also use an electric hand mixer to whip the coconut cream.

Vegan Matcha Nog

Vegan Matcha Nog is a dairy-free and plant-based take on classic eggnog, blending the creaminess of coconut or almond milk with the distinctive flavor of matcha green tea -- and in this case Wonder Matcha. This festive beverage offers a deliciously spiced and sweetened alternative, providing a guilt-free and cruelty-free option for a delightful holiday treat.
Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cup dairy-free milk
  • 1/2 cup raw cashews, soaked for at least an hour (drained and rinsed)
  • 2-3 tbsp maple syrup, or 4-5 soft Medjool dates
  • 2 tsp Wonder Matcha or other ceremonial grade matcha
  • 3/4 tsp each rum extract and vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg and cinnamon, or more to taste
  • tiny pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup coconut cream (skimmed from a can of chilled full-fat coconut milk)
  • 1 small frozen banana (optional)
  • optional – squeeze of lemon
  • handful of ice
  • nutmeg and cinnamon sticks for serving
Instructions:
  1. Blend all ingredients except ice and frozen banana in a high-speed blender, until completely smooth and silky.
  2. Adjust rum extract, spices, and maple syrup to taste.
  3. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh nutmeg and cinnamon sticks, if you’d like.

White Hot Chocolate with Matcha

This comforting beverage combines sweetness with a touch of matcha's unique flavor, offering a delicious and soothing treat perfect for cozy moments.
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of Wonder Matcha or other matcha powder
  • 8-12 oz milk
  • 3 pumps of white chocolate sauce
Instructions
  1. Heat your milk as preferred.
  2. Add white chocolate sauce to your cup and pour in heated milk.
  3. Stir to combine.
  4. Stir Wonder Matcha in to combine.
  5. For optional garnish, top it with whipped cream and drizzle on some of that sauce!

Matcha Caramel Apple Cider Float

The float is a delightful concoction that combines the crispness of apple cider with the deliciousness that is Wonder Matcha. Topped with a scoop of velvety caramel or vanilla ice cream and adorned with a drizzle of caramel sauce, this indulgent float offers a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. This one captures the essence of autumn in every sip.
Ingredients: 
  • 1-2 tsp Wonder Matcha or other ceremonial grade matcha
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Sparkling apple cider 
Directions:
  1. Mix Wonder Matcha and water to form a "matcha shot"
  2. Add matcha to a glass
  3. Add a few scoops of ice cream
  4. Top off with sparkling cider
  5. Sprinkle a dash of matcha or a drizzle of caramel to garnish, and enjoy! (Optional)
